Benefits Of Polyurethane Foam Injection

What is Polyurethane Foam Injection?

Polyurethane foam injection is used for various concrete repair and stabilization projects, such as leveling and raising concrete slabsraising footings, and displacing underground water.

A two-part polyurethane is injected under the concrete slab or foundation, which needs to be leveled. Underground, the parts combine to form an expanding foam that fills any voids under the slab, compresses and strengthens the underlying soil, and lifts the slab or foundation back to its original height.

Polyurethane foam injection, also known as “poly-jacking,” is an alternative concrete repair method to mud jacking. However, polyurethane foam has many advantages over traditional mud jacking methods, making it more effective and allowing it to be used in various other ways.

What Problems Can Polyurethane Foam Injection Solve?

Because the foam is designed to be worn with the existing soil rather than drilled through it, polyurethane foam lifting can solve a wider variety of problems than traditional slab or foundation lifting methods.

Soil Stabilization

One of the biggest causes of foundation or slab settlement is unstable soil below the foundation or slab. Polyjacking helps fix this problem.

As the foam expands, it fills voids within the soil and pushes the soil particles together, compacting them from within.

Raising Footings

A building’s footing is the part of its foundation in direct contact with the soil. When it starts to settle, it can significantly affect the building itself.

Thankfully, the upward force of the expanding foam can precisely raise a building’s footings, returning them to the level at which they were built.

Underground Water Displacement

When soil is loose and uncompacted, it is much easier for water to penetrate, settling into voids and inevitably serving only to loosen the soil further.

The polyurethane foam, however, fills those voids and compacts the soil, making it more difficult for water to weaken the soil underneath the slab.

What are the Benefits of Using Polyurethane Foam?

  • The foam is both strong and lightweight, yet dense. It compresses the underlying soil through expansion, not by weighing it down like mudjacking.
  • Hole repair is completely concealed and unnoticeable, making it the least invasive of the foundation repair solutions. Read more about the advantages of polyurethane foam over piers.
  • Completely ready for service within 15 minutes of completion, which, along with a faster installation time, makes it perhaps the quickest foundation repair option.
  • Smaller and fewer holes are required to complete the job compared to other foundation repair options.
  • The foam will retain its strength and structure, reducing the possibility of new gaps or settlement.
  • The moisture and chemicals found in the soil will not weaken the foam. Therefore, it is a permanent solution to your foundation or slab settlement problems. Read more about the long-lasting benefits of foam.
  • During expansion, the foam seeks out weak soils and voids, creating a strong and denser base.
  • Polyurethane foam is environmentally friendly. Self-contained, this material does not seep.
  • Our trained technicians monitor the process, and we can level your foundation to within less than one-tenth of an inch.

How Do Polyurethane Foam Injections Perform?

When comparing polyurethane injection to alternative methods, polyurethane injection is quicker, more precise, and more structurally stable. Applying polyurethane gets the job done with less disturbance. Additionally, polyurethane is also moisture- and decay-resistant, so you can count on it to last longer than alternative methods. Ultimately, we at Airlift strive to provide the industry’s most advanced and latest forms of concrete repair. That is why we choose polyurethane foam injection over traditional forms whenever possible.
