Interior Slab Leveling for Sinking Concrete

Why Concrete Sinks

Foundation slabs can sink for a variety of reasons, but the main culprit usually involves water and erosion. When the soil beneath your foundation moves, it can lead to sinking and settlement.

Different types of soil are more prone to erosion than others. Soils with high clay content are likely to experience more movement because of how the soil handles moisture. Homes built on this type of soil are at higher risk to experience foundation problems.

Leveling Interior Slabs

In order lift and level interior concrete slabs, we use a minimally invasive concrete leveling method known as polyjacking. Polyjacking is the process of injecting polyurethane foam beneath the slab. As the foam is exposed to air, it moves, expands, and hardens. Throughout this process, the concrete is simultaneously being lifted.

Polyurethane foam is a great solution for lifting sunken concrete because it actually helps add stability back into the soil, strengthening the overall structure once again. As we previously mentioned, polyjacking is a minimally invasive process. Small holes are drilled into the concrete so that we are able to inject the foam beneath the surface of the concrete. Once the slab has been lifted, we fill the small holes that were drilled, leaving a smooth and even surface.
